MRSA ist die medizinische Abkürzung für den englischen Begriff „Methicillin resistant Staphylococcus aureus„. Übersetzt bedeutet MRSA soviel wie Antibiotika-Resistenz (Penicillin, Methicillin, etc.) des Staphylococcus aureus Bakterien-Stammes. Im deutschsprachigen Raum wird MRSA auch gerne als Akronym für „Multi-resistenter Staphylococcus aureus“ verwendet.
